This pivotal role bridges today's breakthroughs with tomorrow's paradigm shifts, requiring a blend of strategic foresight and hands-on technical expertise. You'll lead cross-functional teams in prototyping solutions that will define the next decade of human-machine interaction, from quantum computing interfaces to AI-driven biological systems.
Our Austin-based R&D hub offers unparalleled resources including a nanotechnology lab and dedicated quantum computing cluster. This position reports directly to our Chief Innovation Officer and includes competitive equity packages and flexible work arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Develop 5-year technology roadmaps aligned with emerging market trends
- Lead incubation projects for 2026-era technologies (quantum, synthetic biology, neural interfaces)
- Conduct horizon scanning and scenario planning for disruptive innovations
- Collaborate with MIT Media Lab and other future-focused research institutions
- Present strategic visions to executive stakeholders and venture capital partners
- Build and lead a dedicated Future Technologies task force
- Author annual 'State of 2026' technology impact reports
Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Bioengineering, or Physics
- 10+ years in R&D with 5+ years in strategic technology planning
- Published research in IEEE Nature or similar tier-1 journals
- Deep expertise in at least two emerging technology domains
- Proven track record of launching breakthrough innovations
- Experience with scenario planning and technology forecasting methodologies
- Strong network with academic and industry futurist communities
