Responsibilities
- Shader Development: Create custom shaders using HLSL, GLSL, or CG to achieve high-fidelity visual effects and lighting in real-time environments.
- Pipeline Optimization: Develop and maintain tools and scripts (Python/Mel) to automate asset workflows and improve production efficiency.
- Texture Management: Optimize texture atlases and resolution settings to balance visual fidelity with performance across various hardware configurations.
- Technical Direction: Provide technical solutions for complex art challenges, collaborating with engineers to implement innovative rendering techniques.
- Debugging: Troubleshoot and resolve visual artifacts, performance bottlenecks, and compatibility issues within the rendering engine.
- Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for tools, shaders, and technical processes to onboard new team members effectively.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of professional experience as a Technical Artist in the game or interactive media industry.
- Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Unity, Unreal Engine 5, or Maya/Blender. Proficiency in C#, Python, and scripting languages is required.
- Mathematical Foundation: Strong understanding of linear algebra, vector math, and color theory.
- Visual Skills: Exceptional eye for detail with a deep understanding of lighting, composition, and visual storytelling.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating technical art workflows, shader work, or tool development is mandatory.
