Are you a master of motion who loves clean code? Apex Digital is looking for a Senior 2D Web Animation Engineer to lead our frontend creative engineering team. You will bridge the gap between high-end motion graphics and performant web technologies, creating seamless experiences that captivate users while maintaining optimal performance across devices.
In this role, you will architect animation systems, optimize rendering pipelines, and mentor junior developers to push the boundaries of what is possible in the browser.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement high-performance 2D web animations using HTML5 Canvas, SVG, and WebGL.
- Optimize rendering loops and asset loading to ensure 60fps performance on mobile and desktop devices.
- Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers to translate static mockups into fluid, interactive animations.
- Build reusable animation libraries and components to streamline the development process for the wider engineering team.
- Troubleshoot complex browser compatibility issues and ensure cross-platform consistency.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers on best practices for animation performance and architecture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 5+ years of professional experience in frontend development with a focus on motion graphics.
- Deep proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5 Canvas, SVG manipulation, and CSS Keyframes.
- Experience with animation libraries such as GSAP, Anime.js, or Pixi.js.
- Strong understanding of performance optimization techniques, including requestAnimationFrame and off-screen rendering.
- Experience with responsive design principles and accessibility standards (WCAG).
